Corfu has a big variety of sights that you can see at your visit. These sights can please everyone.The most important and popular sights of Corfu are:

Achilion Palace
Achilion Palace was built from 1888 to 1891 by the Italian architect Kardilo on behalf of Elisabeth Empress of Austria. It is located near the village Gastouri.
Its architectural style is the style of Pompeii also includes elements of the Ionic, Roman and Aeolic traditions. The Palace took the name Achilion from Achilles (ancient Greek hero) which the Empress admired him very much. After her death the Palace was not inhabited for nine years until its purchase from the Emperor of Germany Vilhelm the second at the 1907.
The emperor is well known as Kaizer.Kaizer made several alterations inside and outside of the Palace.He built a building and he named it The house of the Knights, also he removed two statues of Achiles and he rearranged the gardens of the Palace. During the world wars the palace was Hospital and Hedquarters of the army. After the World War 2 the palace come into the estate hands.
Inside of the Palace you can admire beautiful paintings from Italian, Austrian and Corfiot painters. The most impressive painting was made by the Corfiot painter Aggelos Dialinas. One more remarkable painting that is well known to the whole world is the fresco at the reception that shows Achilles dragging the dead body of Hector in front of the Trojan walls. There are more exhibits that the qust can admire like the personal belongings of Kaizer and Empress Elizampeth.

Aggelocastro
This fotress is standing there since the Byzantine Empire. Aggelokastro means angels castle. Aggelocastro is situated near the village Krini. It was built by the Michael Angelo 2 son of the archbishop of Epirus. The tradition says tha there were looking for a dangerous and steepest rock to build upon it a fortress.
The want to stood a fortress there with the explanation to the inhabitants that with this castle they can protect from the pirates from Africa and the Venetians. For a short time it was the capital of the island because the Governor lives there. In our days the only that remains is the gate and some ruins of the buildings.
Gardiki Fortress
This is also a Byzantine fortress situated on a hill between the villages of Agios Mathaios and Mesoghi. We know very little thinks for this fortress they say that was built from the Michael Angello 2. The only think that reminds us the fortress are the ruins of the eight towers and the buildings.
Kanoni
Kanoni is a world famous hot spot of Corfu because from there you can see tha airport and the planes landing and the take off. It was named Kanoni (cannon) because the French establish there their artillery. One of the battery's cannons still stands there.
